Life in Winnipeg

Postby winnipegbound » Wed Jun 07, 2006 10:47 pm

Hi Everyone! We are a couple of guys who are looking to possibly move to Winnipeg. We have been up there a couple of times and really love the city there! So tell us how is life there year round. We are facing much discrimination here in the US due to the conservative idiots! Is it the same up there?

Hi Guys,
I just read your post, and am in the same boat you are. I live in Knoxville, Tennessee, and am sick of the Bush administration, and discrimination, etc, same as you. I also am thinking about relocating to Winnipeg. I ama 48 yr old gay man, single, and am a travel agent by trade. Please keep me posted as to what you find out, and what your plans are. Thanks, and good luck. Tom Oswalt
Wanting to make new Canadian friends, especially in the Winnipeg area. ( I'll explain later). It will be worth your while.

Welcome to Winnipeg:
- Redneck small town
- No decent/relevant gay bars
- Most people still in the closet
- Gay friendly? Only if you're gay and 80+
- Cold
- Isolated
- No spam
- Nothing to do / boring

My suggestion:
Go elsewhere!

You living in the same Winnipeg as I am? If so, quit whining and find somewhere better then.

Winnipeg is a great place to live.

Lots of green space, low cost of living (real estate is booming, but still dirt spam for now), Close proximity to national/provincial parks. Not to mention the 10 000 lakes in the province. Very culturally balanced city, and very low-density in most parts. (Read - very few big buildings)

The city is practically flat as a pancake, a big plus if you like to run.

New arena attracting great shows, Tons of yearly attractions...

I could go on for hours. If you haven't visited yet, do it as soon as you can (Maybe not in winter - unless you like the cold).

If people are crying about living in Winnipeg try living in Trenton Ontario
1. Hicks Rednecks and Incest freaks
2. No spam no real jobs here
3. No real gay people
4. No Gay bars at all
5. No decent people
6. Nothing to do at all
7. Too much drugs
So be glad you live in Winnipeg plus I am moving there in Jan so I am happy.

Hi, Ive lived in winnipeg for close to 20 years. Its a pretty good place to live, standard of living is lower than rest of the country. People are fairly descent here. Very tolerant. I know, Im of East Indian descent. The cultural and artistic aspect of society is well represented, though, not as bountiful as in Toronto or New York. Many different ethnic restaurants, movies and stores. The cold is ok, every one can get used to it. I did.
